HOUSTON — A Pennsylvania resident is suing LTD Financial Services LP, a debt collector, citing alleged deceptive debt collection practices.
Francis DeUsa filed a complaint on Sept. 25, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against LTD, alleging that the debt collector intentionally violated the Texas Debt Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as result of the defendant's conduct, he has suffered damages, expenses and losses for making payments totaling $1,687 to settle and close his account with his original creditor, Barclays Bank. The plaintiff holds LTD Financial Services LP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to honor the settlement agreement, attempted to collect additional monies and neglected and failed to adequately review its actions to ensure compliance with the law.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, attorneys' fees and costs and other relief the court deems acceptable. He is represented by Amy E. Clark of Amy Clark Law in Austin and Reznik Law Firm in New York.
