Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen patron claims greasy floor caused fall

BEAUMONT – A Port Arthur woman alleges she sustained injuries to her face, mouth and knee in a fall at a restaurant in the city.

BEAUMONT – A Port Arthur woman alleges she sustained injuries to her face, mouth and knee in a fall at a restaurant in the city.

Kelly Alfred filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in the Jefferson County District Court against Wow Food Concepts LLC, doing business as Cheddar's Casual Cafe Inc. and/or Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen and Cheddar's Casual Cafe Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 14, 2016, she was at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Port Arthur she was injured when she slipped and fell due to a greasy floor.

The plaintiff holds Wow Food Concepts LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inspect the premises and failed to warn their invitees of the existence of such condition.

The plaintiff seeks punitive and exemplary damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Joe Fisher II and Taylor Thompson of Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
