BEAUMONT – A mechanic is seeking damages after his leg was broken while working on a rig.

Jose Ramon Morales filed a complaint on Oct. 26 in the Jefferson County District Court against Lewis Specialties Trucking Services LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 29, 2016, he was working on the axle of a big rig that was raised by a jack. The suit states that due to the faulty jack, the rig fell and struck his leg and broke it.

The plaintiff holds Lewis Specialties Trucking Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide proper training and failed to properly inspect the jack.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million. He is represented by M. Paul Skrabanek and Michael E. Pierce of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
