HOUSTON – A Harris County man has filed suit against a Michigan car dealership over allegations that it refused to give him possession of a vehicle he purchased.

Lennie Jackson filed a complaint on Nov. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against Lafontaine Cadillac Buick GMC citing the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 27, he made a deposit of $17,000 in cash to defendant's agent for the purchase of a 2015 Cadillac Escalade. The plaintiff states he asked for the defendant to replace the tires on the vehicle with a different brand and was told to return in a few days to collect the vehicle because the tires were not in stock. He alleges that when he later went to collect the vehicle, the defendant would not honor the contract. The suit states the agent that had helped the plaintiff with his purchase was no longer employed by the dealership and there was no record of his deposit.

The plaintiff holds Lafontaine Cadillac Buick GMC responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to honor their contractual agreement and turn over possession of the vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks economic damages of $171,000, mental anguish damages of $300,695 and possession of the said vehicle. He is representing himself.
