HOUSTON – A Louisiana-based staffing company has filed a lawsuit against a worker it hired for a Hurricane Harvey cleanup project, alleging the defendant is in possession of vital business information and refuses to turn it over.

Court papers filed on Dec. 4 in the Harris County 80th District Court state that Coastal Staffing Services, LLC, located in Lake Charles, La., was not able to promptly issue paychecks to employees of Red Hawk Industry Services, LLC because Houston resident D’Andre Good failed to submit the workers’ information.

The plaintiff contracted with Red Hawk to provide workers for storm cleanup services throughout Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. Good was reportedly hired as a manager.

According to the suit, Coastal Staffing obtained workers’ timesheets and issued paychecks following the conclusion of the work, but the company had little or no information for some of the aforementioned workers.

The discrepancy in question caused a delay in the distribution of wages.

Coastal Staffing asserts it then learned by way of television media that Good had maintained a list of workers, when they worked, and at least some of their personal information. The defendant has failed to respond to written requests for the information, the original petition says.

A jury trial is requested.

Attorneys B. Eliot New and Nadine Ona of the law firm Germer PLLC in Beaumont are representing the complainant.
