HOUSTON – A business that specializes in high-end Italian furnishings and cabinets is pursuing legal action against a former employee on allegations she defamed it, recent Harris County District Court records show.

Studio Snaidero Houston LLC filed a lawsuit against Katy resident Sonia Seery in the Harris County 334th District Court on Dec. 7. SSH formerly employed Seery as its Interior Designer Director of Business Development.

Court documents state that the defendant left the company late last month and made and continues to make false statements to its existing clients “in an attempt extort tens of thousands of dollars.”

The suit additionally asserts Seery made written threats to her ex-employer, including but not limited to, producing reports of purportedly fraudulent operations and informing law enforcement about alleged human trafficking and false documentation.

Seery’s actions caused some clients to request that SSH cancel their contracts with them and issue them refunds, the complaint says.

The business applied for a temporary restraining order against the respondent.

Attorneys Brent L. Vannoy and Joseph F. Colvin, Jr. of the law firm Hughes Watters Askanase L.L.P. in Houston are representing the plaintiff.
