HOUSTON – An Oklahoma man alleges he was injured while working for a Harris County-based company because a guard was not in place on a piece of equipment.

Chris Hatfield filed a complaint on Dec. 14, 2017, in the Harris County District Court against EP Energy Corp., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 2, 2016, he was working on a fire tube owned by the defendants and that the sight glass on the tube did not have a guard as is standard practice to keep it from shattering. He alleges the sight glass shattered, causing a severe laceration on his wrist.

The plaintiff holds EP Energy Corp., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a guard for the sight glass, failed to work of the unsafe equipment and failed to maintain their equipment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but less than $200,000 and such other further and different relief. He is represented by Meghan Mitchell and Matthew Heape of Fadduol, Cluff, Hardy & Conaway PC in Lubbock.
