Consumer claims Stellar Recovery Inc. failure to mark disputed alleged debt hurt credit score

Late 06

HOUSTON – A consumer alleges a debt collector failed to report that she had disputed an alleged debt on her credit report.

Christine Albright filed a complaint on Dec. 19, 2017, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Stellar Recovery Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Stellar Recovery Inc. re-reported an alleged debt on her credit account in January 2017 after it received her dispute letter in September 2016 and did not report that she had disputed the alleged debt.

She alleges that because of the defendant's actions, her credit score suffered and was significantly lowered, which has resulted in her inability to obtain credit.

The plaintiff seeks actual and statutory damages, costs, expenses and disbursements of this action and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Jonathan Kandelshein of The Law Offices of Jonathan Kandelshein in Dallas.
