Consumer files fraud suit against Ron Hoover Marine Inc., Epic Boats LLC over alleged issues with boat

Contract 09

HOUSTON – A Baytown consumer alleges a boat he purchased was in a defective condition.

David Rappelet filed a complaint on Dec. 28, 2017, in the Galveston County District Court against Ron Hoover Marine Inc. and Epic Boats LLC alleging that they violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, breach of contract, fraud and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in October 2014, he purchased an Epic 2015 boat from defendant Ron Hoover with a five-year warranty. Within the warranty period, the plaintiff alleges he experienced major problems with the boat and that it eventually became non-operational.

The plaintiff holds Ron Hoover Marine Inc. and Epic Boats LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly falsely represented that he boat and its parts were new while in fact they were deteriorated, reconditioned or second-hand.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million. He is represented by Anissah M. Andang and Thanh N. Le of Nguyen & Chen LLP in Houston.
