BEAUMONT – A pair of lawsuits alleging mesothelioma through asbestos exposure brought against Chevron U.S.A. were recently dismissed.
The first lawsuit was brought by Mae Angelle on behalf of her late husband, Joseph Angelle, who was employed by Gulf Oil/Chevron in Jefferson County.
He was allegedly exposed to toxic materials including asbestos dust and fibers, developed mesothelioma and died Aug. 20, 2012.
The second was brought by Alice Buller, representing the estate of John Buller.
John was employed by Gulf Oil (now Chevron) and was allegedly exposed to toxic asbestos dust and fibers. As a result, he developed mesothelioma, “from which he died a painful and terrible death on July 14, 2014,” the suit states.
Both lawsuits were dismissed Dec. 12, court records show.
The trial court orders state the parties jointly filed a motion to dismiss.
In both cases, the plaintiffs were represented by J. Keith Hyde of the Provost & Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
