Woman alleges water on floor at Whataburger restaurant caused fall

Slip02

HOUSTON – A patron of the Baytown Whataburger restaurant alleges that water on the restroom floor caused her to fall.

Leona Trahan filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in the Harris County District Court against Whataburger Restaurants LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 8, 2017, she was a customer at defendant's Whataburger restaurant in Baytown when she lost her footing and fell because of a puddle of liquid that was spilled on the floor inside the restroom. She alleges she sustained injuries and damages that resulted in pain and suffering, medical expenses, disability and physical impairment.

The plaintiff holds Whataburger Restaurants LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to clear the wet substance on the floor and failed to provide warnings signs or notice that the floor was wet and dangerous.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other relief, both special and general. She is represented by Tej Paranjpe and Benjamin H. Ruemke of Paranjpe & Mahadass LLP in Houston.
