DoubleTree By Hilton Houston guest seeks more than $1 million over fall allegedly caused by loose tile

HOUSTON – A Harris County resident alleges a loose floor tile caused her to fall at a hotel.

Lori Purcell filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in the Harris County District Court against Doubletree LLC, Hilton Resorts Corp., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 16, 2016, she was approaching the checkout desk at defendants' DoubleTree By Hilton Houston when her foot got caught a loose tile on the floor and caused her to fall.

She claims she suffered serious injuries that required extensive medical treatment, pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost earnings and disability.

The plaintiff holds Doubletree LLC, Hilton Resorts Corp., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently permitted a dangerous condition to remain in the premises, failed to eliminate the same and failed to warn their guests that such condition existed.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other relief that are both lawful and equitable. She is represented by Michael S. Tilton and John A. Caston of Tilton & Tilton LLP in Houston.
