GALVESTON – Haza Foods, doing business as Wendy’s, recently responded to a former employee’s lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and wrongful termination.

Last November, Canika Jefferson filed the federal suit claiming the eatery did nothing to properly address her complaints.

Jefferson worked at the defendant’s Kemah location from Dec. 5, 2015 to Feb. 24, 2016.

She says she received unwanted sexual attention from a male co-worker.

Rather than properly address her concerns, the suit states, the respondent transferred her to a different branch and then terminated her on grounds of being absent from duty.

Her former employer’s original answer, which was filed on Feb. 2, asserts “any adverse employment decisions were made for legitimate and non-retaliatory reasons.”

Clayton R. Hearn of the law firm Roberts Markel Weinberg Butler Hailey PC in Houston serves as the restaurant’s lead counsel.
