HOUSTON – A former paint shop supervisor with a local pipe support manufacturer claims he was terminated as a result of his complaints about racial and age discrimination.
Recent Houston federal court records show that Wilfred Anthony LeDuff initiated legal action against Piping Technology & Products, Inc. on Feb. 15.
The company employed LeDuff from Sept. 8, 2004 to Dec. 28, 2015.
Born in 1971, the plaintiff recalls an instance in which his supervisor purportedly berated him for his age and threatened to “find someone tomorrow that is (ten) times better than” he was.
The original petition further asserts that LeDuff experienced a hostile work environment because he is black.
According to the suit, LeDuff’s wife discovered a racially-charged Facebook post targeting him and another black worker at the paint shop.
LeDuff says he addressed the discrimination in question to no avail as the defendant seized his company phone and reduced his hours.
Shortly afterwards, the complaint adds, LeDuff was “laid off even though no one else to his knowledge was laid off around this time.”
Consequently, he seeks unspecified monetary damages.
