BEAUMONT – A local woman is seeking up to $1 million in damages for injuries she allegedly received after stepping into a “hidden hole.”

Francine Jackson filed her suit March 14 in Jefferson County District Court, asserting the city knew about the dangerous condition but failed to warn her.

According to the lawsuit, on June 22 Jackson “walked into a hidden hole at the end of a sidewalk” on the corner of Central Mall Drive and Santa Fe, suffering “severe and permanent injuries.

Jackson contends the area was not marked with orange cones or blocked off in any way.

She is suing for her past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, pain, impairment, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life and lost wages

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. E-201465
