HOUSTON – A Liberty County man alleges he is owed more than $1 million in monetary relief after he was injured while working as a deckhand.

Justin Odom filed a complaint on March 26 in the Harris County District Court against Cheryl K LLC alleging negligence and unseaworthiness.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 20, he was injured while employed by the defendant as a deckhand aboard its M/V Miss Peggy. He alleges as he was attempting to release a line, the tug began to move, causing the line to wrap around his leg and throw him into the water. He alleges he suffered serious injuries resulting in pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss earnings and disfigurement.

The plaintiff holds Cheryl K LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to furnish a seaworthy vessel.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief. He is represented by Scott C. Krist and Alex W. Horton of The Krist Law Firm PC in Houston.
