Jasper man alleged to have failed to control speed in Jefferson County crash

Car accident 35

BEAUMONT – An Orange County man alleges a Jasper motorist failed to control his speed and caused an auto accident.

Marshall Sherley filed a complaint on March 9 in the Jefferson County District Court against Joseph Allen Cochran alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 5, 2017, he was a passenger in a vehicle in Jefferson County that was struck from behind by the defendant. As a result, Sherley claims he suffered personal injuries and incurred expenses necessary for medical and hospital care he received.

The plaintiff holds Cochran responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to control his speed, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to properly apply brakes.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of $100,000 but no more than $200,000 plus court costs, pre- and post-judgment interest, and for such other and further relief to which may be justly entitled. He is represented by Steven C. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell LLP in Beaumont.
