Harris Co. seeks compensation for damaged toll road sign from mobile crane rental company

HOUSTON – Harris County has filed a lawsuit against Crane Masters, Inc. over a purportedly damaged toll road sign.

Court documents filed on Apr. 20 in the Harris County 190th District Court claim the defendant was in the process of installing a sign on a cantilever on Beltway 8 near Deerwood Road on the morning of Aug. 25, 2017 when its worker struck the upright sign structure.

The impact allegedly caused the eye-bolt holding the sign to come loose and resulted in the sign falling on a Jorgensen truck which was repaired by Crane Masters.

“The Harris County Toll Road sign was damaged and the cost to hang the sign was incurred the second time,” the suit says.

Crane Masters is faulted for failing to keep a proper lookout, operator inattention, and improper control of the crane.

Consequently, the county seeks $6,453.75.

It is represented by its legal department.
