J.B. Hunt employee alleges injuries caused by company's failure to warn

Medical malpractice 01

HOUSTON – An employee of J.B. Hunt Transport Inc. alleges the company failed to provide a safe workplace.

Demetrius Joseph filed a complaint on May 7 in the Harris County District Court against J.B. Hunt Transport Inc. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 28, 2017, he was inspecting a cargo container as an employee of the defendant and was injured when the container's door suddenly flew open, knocking him backward into a car stop. He alleges he suffered serious and debilitating injuries resulting in pain, disability, mental anguish, loss of earnings, medical expenses and disfigurement.

The plaintiff holds J.B. Hunt Transport Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to conduct adequate inspection, failed to discover a dangerous condition and failed to provide warnings or notices that such danger existed.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and all other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Paul A. Higdon and J. Kevin Shaw of Higdon Lawyers in Houston.
