HOUSTON – A Harris County couple has filed a wrongful death action against several physicians and Clear Lake Regional Medical Center over the death of their infant son.

Susan Gonzales and Michael Gonzales, as natural parents and wrongful death beneficiary of Baby Boy Gonzales, filed a complaint on May 28 in the Harris County District Court against Ileana Marien Arbon Ramirez, MD; Clear Lake Regional Medical Center Inc., et al., alleging wrongful death, negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 9, 2017, Baby Boy Gonzales was born at 26 weeks and five days gestation and was admitted to the NICU at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center. The suit states he developed sepsis and necrotizing enterocolitis, which eventually led to his death on Sept. 10, 2017.

The plaintiffs hold Ramirez, Clear Lake Regional Medical Center Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly care for decedent.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally, for all damages, costs, fees and interest and such other and further relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by James R. Edwards, Jeffrey R. McCarthy and Michael Takla of McCarthy & Edwards PLLC in Houston.
