Former employee of Sprouts Farmers Market alleges he was wrongfully terminated

HOUSTON – A Houston man alleges he was unlawfully terminated from his job at a Spring supermarket.

Robert Perales filed a complaint on May 31 in the Harris County District Court against Sprouts Farmers Market, Ron Haas and Stephen Quiroz alleging that they violated the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he requested a medical leave on March 2, 2016, under the FMLA. He alleges he was notified June 6, 2016, he was terminated from his employment over an alleged failure to file short-term disability benefits. 

The plaintiff holds Sprouts Farmers Market, Haas and Quiroz responsible because the defendants allegedly terminated him in violation of the FMLA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1 million, plus liquidated damages of $1 million, reinstatement or front pay, attorney's fees, costs and such other equitable relief. He is representing himself.
