HOUSTON – A shopper at a Houston discount store alleges she injured her leg in a fall caused by liquid on the floor.

Valerie Lopez filed a complaint on June 13 in the Harris County District Court against Ross Stores Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 2, she was injured at defendant's dd's Discounts store at 10902 North Freeway, Houston when she slipped and fell while walking down an aisle because of liquid on the floor. She alleges she sustained serious injuries to her right leg, right foot, right knee, right toe and other parts of the body as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Ross Stores Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to correct the dangerous condition or to warn her about it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of less than $75,000 and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by John A. Daspit and Swetha Sajja of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
