HOUSTON – A woman alleges a restaurant's negligent hiring of employees caused her injuries when she slipped and fell at the premises.

Miriam Valencia filed a complaint on June 14 in the Harris County District Court against CICI Enterprises LP & Sun Holdings Inc. alleging negligent hiring and training and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 30, 2017, she was injured at defendants' Houston restaurant when she slipped and fell on liquid on the floor. She alleges she suffered severe injuries resulting in pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost wages and out-of-pocket expenses as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds CICI Enterprises LP & Sun Holdings Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to use reasonable care to protect its customers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of up to $200,000 and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Juan C. Garcia and Daniel J. Johnson of Johnson Garcia LLP in Houston.
