BEAUMONT – Harris County couple is seeking damages from a South Beaumont hotel after the wife was injured there while attending a sorority meeting.

Sherralyn Eileen Fields and Robert Fields filed a complaint on June 6 in the Jefferson County District Court against 984 Hotel Operating LLC, doing business as MCM Elegante Hotel, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Sherralyn Fields was a customer at defendant's MCM Elegante Hotel's restaurant when she fell because of a hole that was blocked by defendant's employees. She alleges she sustained injuries to her knees, hips, back, right shoulder and right elbow as a result of the fall.

The plaintiffs holds 984 Hotel Operating LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed the floor near the gate to become a serious safety hazard by covering it, failed to provide adequate lighting and failed to provide sufficient warning about the condition.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which they may be entitled. They are represented by Rahlita D. Thornton of Thornton & Thornton in Houston.
