Monique D. Savage, Megan Savage and Monica Savage filed a complaint on June 18 in the Texarkana Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Murphy Oil USA Inc. alleging violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Monique Savage was employed by the defendant from 2012 until July 2016 as an assistant manager. She alleges in in July 2016, she was subjected to discrimination because she is African-American. She alleges an employee of the defendant accused her of cross-ringing products and she was terminated the same day.

The plaintiffs hold Murphy Oil USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to follow its progressive disciplinary policy.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for statutory, compensatory, punitive and general damages; plus interest; attorney’s fees; witness fees; costs; and all further legal and equitable relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by Marshay Howard of Howard & Associates in Dallas.
