GALVESTON – A Texas City woman faces a lawsuit in response to the accidental shooting death of her grandson at her residence last year, recent Galveston County District Court records indicate.

The lawsuit, filed by Harris County resident Kerry Johnson on June 21 in the Galveston County 10th District Court, says his son was at Alice Fletcher’s residence on Jan. 27, 2017 when the four-year-old found a loaded gun in her bed and shot himself.

Johnson adds the child succumbed to injuries he sustained from the weapon, blaming Fletcher for leaving the firearm out in the open.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by Sylvester Anderson of Houston.
