HOUSTON – An employee of a Harris County company is seeking damages after a finger was severed while using a table saw.

Joel Contreras filed a complaint on June 22 in the Harris County District Court against D E Aguilar Paint and Remodeling alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 4, he was injured while in the course and scope of his employment with defendant when he cut off his right hand's index finger while using a table saw.

The plaintiff holds D E Aguilar Paint and Remodeling responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe work environment and failed to make the premises safe.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Jesus Salinas and John Arthur Daspit of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
