HOUSTON – Two Harris County women allege in a lawsuit that they were injured while participating in an obstacle course during an afterschool event last year at an elementary school.

Catherine Yeo and Wendy Morgan brought the suit against R. Schroeder Investments, LLC, doing business as Showcase Entertainment, on June 25 in the Harris County 165th District Court.

The original petition explains that the plaintiffs attended the Mother & Son Game Night at Jeanette Hayes Elementary School on Nov. 9, 2017 featuring rental equipment provided by the defendant.

The event had an obstacle course slide which the complainants claim they sustained injuries using.

“Too many parents and children were allowed into the obstacle course at one time or within a short period of time,” court papers say.

Yeo and Morgan further assert they “felt a sharp sudden pain and a worrisome crack in their feet” while going down the slide. They were diagnosed with broken feet and ankle fractures that required surgeries, the suit says.

The respondent is faulted for failing to maintain the slide and neglecting to supervise the activities on its equipment.

Consequently, the complainants seek unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

They are represented by Elena Vlady of the Law Office of Elena Vlady in Austin.
