HOUSTON – A Bowie County resident alleges she suffered brain damage after being prescribed two medications that caused an injurious drug interaction.

Jamie Daigle filed a complaint on July 5 in the Harris County District Court against Heather Blaylock MD, Chi-St. Luke's Health, Chi-St. Luke's - The Woodlands Hospital, et al. alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 26, 2016, she was prescribed Adderall and Welbutrin SR by defendant Blaylock. The plaintiff alleges she filled the prescriptions and was later taken to Chi-St. Luke's for unusual symptoms. She alleges a lumbar puncture there caused a spinal fluid leak and subdural brain hemorrhage. She alleges she has suffered brain damage that affects her daily living and employment.

The plaintiff holds Blaylock, Chi-St. Luke's Health, Chi-St. Luke's - The Woodlands Hospital, et al. responsible because defendant Blaylock improperly prescribed both medications at the same time when she should have been aware that there is a dangerous interaction when they were combined in a patient's body and the other defendants allegedly failed to properly treat her medical condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may show herself to be justly entitled. She is represented by Craig Lewis and Aaron J. Arenas of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
