HOUSTON – A consumer alleges a debt collector has harassed him with phone calls.

Robert Thielen filed a complaint on July 6 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Medicredit Inc. alleging that the collection agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in November 2017, he began receiving calls to his cellular phone from defendant attempting to collect upon an allegedly defaulted medical debt. He alleges he instructed the defendant to stop calling him that month and the defendant affirmed his request, but he has received 20 calls since. He alleges he has been harassed by the calls.

The plaintiff holds Medicredit Inc. responsible because despite his desire not to receive automated calls, the defendant continued to make collection calls throughout 2018.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, costs, attorney fees and such other and further relief that is just and appropriate. He is represented by Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
