HOUSTON – A New Jersey debt collector is alleged to have harassed a woman with its collection calls.

Annie R. Payne filed a complaint on July 10 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against MRS Associates Inc. alleging that the New Jersey corporation violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in November 2017 through the present day, she continues to receive calls from the defendant in an attempt to collect on an allegedly defaulted debt. She alleges she told the defendant to stop contacting her in November 2017 and that it has called her 72 times since that request.

The plaintiff holds MRS Associates Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly harassed her with its calls and used an automated telephone dialing system to place the calls.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and punitive damages, costs, attorney fees and such other relief and further relief as the court deemed just and proper. She is represented by Marwan R. Daher and Omar T. Sulaiman of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
