HOUSTON – A state district lawsuit faults a daycare center for firing an employee for reporting child abuse.

Joseph Michael Stubler filed the suit against Jarvc Corp., doing business as Kids R Kids #9, on July 17 in the Harris County 269th District Court.

Formerly employed as a manager, Stubler says he notified his supervisor of the abuse in question on July 27, 2017 only to be terminated four days later.

Court papers assert that the defendant violated the state’s Family Code.

“An employer may not terminate an employee who is a professional and who in good faith reports child abuse,” the original petition says.

Consequently, Stubler seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Robert J. Filteau and John A. Sullivan, III of The Law Offices of Filteau & Sullivan, Ltd., LLP in Houston.
