BEAUMONT – A former sheet metal worker alleges asbestos exposure during his employment caused him to develop cancer and breathing issues.

Clary Chesson filed a complaint on July 13 in the Jefferson County District Court against Ametek Inc., Bechtel Corp., Bridgestone/Firestone North America Tire LLC, et al. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during his employment as a sheet metal worker, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. He alleges he has developed cancer and breathing difficulties as a result of the exposure.

The plaintiff holds Ametek Inc., Bechtel Corp., Bridgestone/Firestone North America Tire LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently allowed a dangerous condition to exist on their premises and failed to provide warnings that working around products containing asbestos particles could cause asbestos-related diseases and other complications.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for actual and exemplary, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and such other and further relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Colin D. Moore and Bryan O. Blevins Jr. of Provost & Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
