BEAUMONT – A man alleges he developed heart conditions because of hormone therapy use.

Larry Roccaforte filed a complaint on June 21 in the Jefferson County District Court against Kevin Morgan, FNP; Randall Locke, FNP; and George Brown, MD alleging malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between April 13, 2016, and June 21, 2016, he was treated by the defendants at Optimum Medical Weight Control and Family Wellness in Nederland and was under a course of treatment with a thyroid hormone product and testosterone. Later that year, he alleges he began to experience atrial fibrillation and acute coronary syndrome because of excessive exposure to androgens and thyroid hormone.

The plaintiff holds Morgan, Locke and Brown responsible because the defendants allegedly prescribed hormone therapy even though his thyroid hormones were normal and failed to adequately assess and examine him before starting him on testosterone therapy.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, with interest, costs and all other relief deemed appropriate. He is represented by Christopher T. Kirchmer of Provost & Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
