HOUSTON – A Houston man employed by a staffing agency alleges he was injured in an explosion at a La Porte plant.

Daniel Brand filed a complaint on July 18 in the Harris County District Court against Sojitz Corp. of America, Sojitz Energy Venture Inc. and Metton America Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 2, he was working for a third-party staffing agency at defendants' plant in La Porte when an explosion and fire occurred. He alleges he suffered severe injuries to his head, arms, neck, back and others part of the body as a result.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because despite notice of equipment malfunction, the defendants allegedly continued to order the operation at the said plant and failed to guard against known hazards.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Kurt Arnold, J. Kyle Findley, Kala F. Sellers and Adam D. Lewis of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
