GALVESTON – Two Galveston County individuals are seeking damages from an Edinburg trucking company over a collision on FM 646.

Rubin Salas and Camille Waterman-Salas filed a complaint on July 19 in the Galveston County District Court against Valley Transportation Service Inc. alleging vicarious liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 12, 2017, they were traveling eastbound on FM 646 in League City approaching Interstate 45 when defendant's tractor-trailer collided with their vehicle while making an unsafe lane change, causing them to crash into a ditch.

The plaintiffs allege they were injured and were caused to suffer actual damages, including but not limited to cost of medical care and treatment, physical pain and mental anguish, lost wages and physical disfigurement.

The plaintiffs hold Valley Transportation Service Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly was negligent by entrusting its vehicle to an employee who was known or should have been known to be unsafe and reckless.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and all other relief that is necessary and fit to award. They are represented by David B. Swick of Smith & Hassler in Houston.
