The First Tuesday PAC, led by local attorney David Matthiesen, reported raising $850,000 from Jan. 1 to June 30, according to a recently released campaign finance report.

For the past decade, First Tuesday has shelled out big bucks to help the Democrat ticket in Houston.

And area trial lawyers seem especially eager to help out this year, with the PAC being 100 percent supplied by Houston attorneys and law firms.

One of the biggest and most notable spenders is Williams Kherkher, a toxic tort firm managed by John Eddie Williams Jr., which made a $100,000 contribution to First Tuesday on March 12, finance reports show.

The Arnold & Itkin law firm also made a $100,000 donation on March 12.

Other members belonging to the $100,000 club include: attorney William Hagans; the Laminack Pirtle & Martines law firm, which specializes in hurricane-related claims; and the personal injury law firm of Perdue & Kidd.

Attorney Kenneth Fibich, whose firm is handling several opioid lawsuits brought by Texas counties, chipped in $25,000, records show.

Attorney Joseph Ahmad and his firm also donated a total of $25,000, as did the Settlement Alliance, which provides settlement-planning services to claimants.

The list of other contributors includes:

- Hartley Hampton PC $25,000;

- Lubel Voyles LLP $25,000;

- Matthews & Associates $50,000;

- Richard Mithoff $50,000;

- Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC $25,000;

- Raizner Slania LLP $25,000;

- The Ammons Law Firm $25,000; and

- Zehl & Associates PC $25,000.

The only notable spending move by First Tuesday so far came in the form of a $5,000 donation to Judge R.K. Sandill for Texas Supreme Court, made June 8, records show.

Sandill, a Democrat, has served as judge of the 127th Civil District Court in Harris County since 2009.
