HOUSTON – A botched root canal is the subject of Harris County resident Timothy Butts’ lawsuit.

In court papers filed on July 23 in the Harris County 269th District Court, Butts claims that Dr. Annette Mata-Murphy poorly performed the procedure on him at University Oaks Dental almost two years ago.

The plaintiff alleges that he experienced numbness on his lip and tongue. A visit to an oral surgeon some two months after the extraction in question determined that Butts “had paresthesia in the anterior 2/3 of his tongue.”

University Oaks is a co-defendant in the litigation.

Consequently, Butts seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Mark A. Weycer and Jennifer E. Sheedy of The Weycer Law Firm, P.C. in Houston is representing the complainant.
