SHERMAN – A Denton County man who previously worked as a pharmacy technician alleges he was terminated in retaliation by a medical facility because of his discrimination complaints.

Steven Bowie filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Baylor Scott and White Health alleging retaliation and discrimination.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant as a pharmacy technician in 2012. He alleges the defendant imposed a greater workload on him than female employees, including lifting heavy boxes, leaving crash cart trays for him to fill and replace, and filling and running the day shifts' cart fills to the upper floors.

He alleges he reported his concerns about the additional work hours in 2017 and 2018. The suit states on March 30, he was terminated from his employment with the defendant.

The plaintiff holds Baylor Scott and White Health responsible because the defendants allegedly discriminated against him because of his gender and retaliated against him by discharging him for his discrimination complaints.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all wages and employment benefits, reinstatement, attorney's fees, costs and expert fees and such other and further relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by Wade A. Forsman in Sulphur Springs.
