Driver alleged to have failed to yield when exiting Lumberton driveway

BEAUMONT – A Beaumont woman alleges a driver failed to yield before striking her vehicle while exiting a driveway in Lumberton.

Casey Mygrants filed a complaint on July 24 in the Jefferson County District Court against Cheyenne Renee Black alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 10, 2017, she was traveling northbound on Highway 96 in Lumberton when defendant negligently exited a private driveway and struck her vehicle.

The plaintiff holds Black responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield to the right of way and failed to timely apply brakes.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $100,000 and such other and further to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Larry C. Hunter of The Ferguson Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
