HOUSTON – An electrician for a railroad company alleges he was injured on the job because of his employer's failure to provide a safe workplace.

Keith Manley filed a complaint on Aug. 6 in the Harris County District Court against Union Pacific Railroad Co. citing the Federal Employers' Liability Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 12, 2016, he was injured while working for the defendant when he was installing electronic equipment on a roof of a locomotive. He alleges he suffered injury and chronic pain that required major spinal surgery with fusion of his lumbar vertebrae.

The plaintiff holds Union Pacific Railroad Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently permitted the use of a defective crane and failed to provide a safe place to work.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount to be determined by jury, with interest, costs and all other relief that are lawful. He is represented by John D. Roven of Roven Law Group PC in Houston.
