HOUSTON – The parents of a child who perished from being left inside a daycare bus last month have sued the facility.

In court papers filed against Discovering Me Academy, LLC on Aug. 14 in the Harris County 133rd District Court, Raymond Pryer and Dickeisha Whitlock-Pryer blame the school for the July 20 passing of their 3-year-old son, R.J.

The suit alleges the bus driver and an assigned chaperone left the boy on the bus after it returned from a field trip. R.J. was believed to have been inside the vehicle for nearly 4 1/2 hours as “it slowly heated up.”

“Raymond had no doubt cried and screamed but there was no one to hear him,” court papers state.

The school is ultimately accused of negligence and gross negligence.

Consequently, the complainants seek unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

They are represented by W. Mark Lanier and Lawrence P. Wilson of The Lanier Law Firm, P.C. in Houston.
