HOUSTON – A car rental business accuses a customer of inflicting nearly $12,000 worth of damage to one of their vehicles.

The Hertz Corp. filed a lawsuit against Houston resident Nicole Denkins on Aug. 15 in the Harris County 127th District Court, claiming she has an outstanding $11,919.17 debt.

Denkins rented a vehicle from the plaintiff on Aug. 11, 2015. According to the suit, she returned the vehicle “in a damaged state” three days later.

Hertz alleges that Denkins allowed a woman named Keanna Whitaker to drive the vehicle, which was an apparent violation of the agreement between the parties. Whitaker, who joins Denkins as a co-defendant, was reportedly involved in an accident while operating the vehicle.

Court papers state that the amount Hertz is seeking remains unpaid.

Rwan S. Hardesty and Timothy J. Hardesty of the Hardesty Law Office, PLLC in Midlothian are representing the plaintiff.
