Patron holds hotel bar, others responsible for alleged assault

Lawsuits

GALVESTON – An alleged assault two years ago at a hotel bar in La Marque has resulted in litigation.

Recent Galveston County District Court records show that South Houston resident Robert Gadd filed a lawsuit against Jimmy Bar LLC, doing business as RJ’s Bar and Grill and/or Jimmy’s Lounge; Kenny Group, LLC, doing business as America Best Value Inn; and Robert Mitcham on Sept 4. in the Galveston County 122nd District Court.

In the 7-page suit, Gadd asserts Mitcham and other patrons of the nightspot on the premises of America Best Value Inn located at 5201 Gulf Fwy. physically attacked him on Sept. 3, 2016. Mitcham purportedly struck the plaintiff in the head with a pool stick.

The bouncer on duty did nothing to stop the attack, court papers assert.

Consequently, Gadd seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Steven R. Booker of the law firm of Burkburnett, Tex.
