GALVESTON – Alleging his business partners lied to him about the purpose of their game rooms, Harris County resident Muhammad Zubair Safdar has pursued legal action.

Safdar filed a lawsuit against Zeeshan Rajpute, Sarwar Jawad, and Creative Establishment, LLC on Sept. 4 in the Galveston County 405th District Court.

According to court papers, Safdar, Rajpute, and Jawad formed Creative Establishment with the intent to operate game rooms in Hitchcock. The men reportedly agreed that each of them would have an equal 33 percent of the ownership.

After the partnership opened two game rooms, the original petition explains, the plaintiff discovered that Rajpute and Jawad “were actually operating an illegal game room because they were paying out cash and authorizing cash payments to the winners on the game machines.”

The suit says the parties agreed prior to opening the game room the venture was for entertainment as cash payouts in a game room violated state law.

Safdar confronted Rajpute and Jawad about his discovery, but they purportedly told him that they have an inside person in Hitchcock city government whose job it was to make sure the game rooms are not targets of any investigation.

The individual, who court documents identify as John Doe, is a co-defendant.

Safdar says the defendants refused to buy his shares, return his capital, and give him his share of the profits, fearing “he may be dragged into the illegal activities” at the game rooms.

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by Altaf Adam of Sugar Land.
