HOUSTON – A Harris County woman’s visit to a Louisiana hotel and casino two years ago was purportedly marred by a spilt beverage.

Linda Harris is suing Golden Nugget Lake Charles, LLC and Fertitta Entertainment, Inc., alleging a waitress at one of the venue’s restaurants “negligently spilled scalding coffee” on her.

Court papers filed on Sept. 5 in the Harris County 215th District Court assert that Harris sustained first degree burns to her back.

While the waitress is not a party in the litigation, the complaint faults her for failing to properly handle a hot drink and not paying attention.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by Kenneth R. Baird of The Baird Law Firm in Houston.
