HOUSTON – The Gibson Law Firm has filed a lawsuit on behalf of two local men who allege injuries from a faulty vape battery, recent Harris County District Court records show.

Glenn Granger and Jose Flores sued LG Chem America, Inc. on Sept. 5 in the Harris County 164th District Court. They fault the company for manufacturing the HD2 18650 LG battery.

Each plaintiff says the battery exploded on their persons and caused them to suffer second and third-degree burns.

Granger recalls attending a car show in Austin on Apr. 23, 2017 when he pulled the “flaming” product out of his pocket while Flores explains that his battery sent “flames three feet high” more than three months ago.

“This product was defectively designed, manufactured, and marketed by the defendant,” the original petition says. “The battery defects made this product unreasonably dangerous for its intended use.”

Absolute Vapor, LLC and Max & Zach’s Vapor Shop, Inc. are listed as co-defendants in the litigation.

Consequently, the complainants seek unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
