HOUSTON – A woman alleges a substance believed to be bleach caused her to fall in a Houston store's restroom.

Sharon Buie filed a complaint on Sept. 5 in the Harris County District Court against Big Lots Inc. alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 8, 2017, she was shopping at defendant's Big Lots store in Houston when she slipped and fell in the restroom due to a liquid substance on the floor that smelled like bleach. She alleges she sustained serious injuries resulting in physical pain, disability, mental anguish, loss of earnings and necessary medical expenses as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Big Lots Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate warning of the dangerous condition of the wet floor.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Brian E. White and Joshua R. Hilbe of Attorney Brian White & Associates PC in Houston.
