BEAUMONT – A man alleges he injured his head and neck in a fall caused by a leaking washing machine.

Orlando Durgan filed a complaint on Aug. 28 in the Jefferson County District Court against Bannum Place of Beaumont LLC alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 3, 2016, he was a resident at defendant's facility and slipped on a wet floor as he passed by the laundry area. The suit states water had leaked out of a washing machine and on to the floor.

He alleges he sustained serious and debilitating injuries to his head, neck, back and hand as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Bannum Place of Beaumont LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the premises where the dangerous condition existed and failed to correct or to warn plaintiff of it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to recover all damages, plus interest, costs and such other and further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by David B. Swick of Smith & Hassler in Houston.
