Lawsuits

HOUSTON – A man and his wife are seeking more than $1 million from the operators of a pipeline for burns the husband sustained in an explosion.

Terry Wheeler and Lara Wheeler filed a complaint on Sept. 10 in the Harris County District Court against Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP, et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Kinder Morgan operates a pipeline owned by El Paso Natural Gas, which intersects with a pipeline owned by Navitas Midstream. The suit states on Aug. 1, the pipelines exploded, causing Terry Wheeler to sustain extreme burns.

The plaintiffs hold Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly monitor their pipeline, failed to supervise operation of the pipeline and failed to adequately and promptly repair their pipeline.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory and exemplary damages, monetary relief of more than $1 million, plus interest, costs and such other and further relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by Kevin Glashen, Chad Inderman and Pedro Leyva of Glasheen, Valles & Inderman LLP in Lubbock.
